For over 30 years our full-colour 96-page literary magazine has published fiction, poetry, nonfiction, scripts, art, and photography from up-and-coming talents as well as interviews with award-winning Canadian writers, timely features, Portent prize winners, book reviews, and more. This website also features backlist issues, podcasts of readings and launches, magazine video promos/trailers, and subscription and submission information.
Portal is distributed nationwide by Magazines Canada and sells for $12. Close to 2000 people read Portal annually, particularly some of VIU’s 18,000 students and 700 faculty on its Nanaimo, Duncan, Parksville, and Powell River campuses, parents and relatives of contributors, and members of the arts community and public.
What Portal can do for you:
Portal guarantees your advertisement to reach three key demographics. Your business will receive exposure from the student population, VIU faculty members, and Portal’s growing readership across Canada.
We print 500 copies, but have a pass-along circulation of 2000. We can be ordered online from the VIU bookstore as our own menu item under General Books and found in bookstores and other literary establishments and libraries up and down the island and across the country.
Your organization will:
- have the ad published in the upcoming issue, available in April;
- AND/OR be showcased here on portalmagazine.ca.
And, in addition, will be:
- listed in the Friends of Portal page of the magazine;
- verbally credited at all student offline and online events;
- in receipt of a copy of the magazine once published as well as an official thank-you card.
